We have a lot of fancy dress opportunities at uni, I even recently heard a suggestion of making a dress up club! One of my favourite fancy dress events apart from seeing Perrine dressed, as a strawberry was my friend’s Alice in Wonderland themed tea party! She was the perfect Alice as she has long straight blonde hair and loves books.

This is my favourite photo of the night!

We had the White Rabbit, a Playing Card, Alice, Tweedledee & Tweedledum, The March Hare, The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, The Caterpillar and The Cheshire Cat at our "Tea" Party

In the beginning she was thinking about making a costume, I found this great example made out of plastic bags!

In the end she ordered her dress off EBay and crossed her fingers it wasn’t to revealing (seems difficult to get an adult sized outfit that doesn’t show your knickers!). Luckily it was fine and she looked beautiful!

I wanted to come as The Cheshire Cat and made my costume out of layering pink and purple tights in stripes, I also looked on YouTube and at photos of Cats the musical for face paint inspiration!

(picture coming soon)

This pictures from the recipe book as I was in such a rush I forgot to take any photos of them!

That day I was very busy but some how managed to make 3 different types of cakes, one was a simple brownie, the other was a plain sponge with blackberry jam and mascarpone icing, unfortunately I dropped it while walking over to her house (typical) but the third was a real success as they were the queen of hearts jam tarts! I got the recipe from a great little book called
The Gentle Art of Domesticity by Jane Brocket which is a beautiful read.

This post is dedicated to the caterpillar who turned into a cocoon
